This year’s runaway bestseller, He’s
Just Not That Into You, was more than a book- it sparked
a relationship revolution that had women recognizing and abandoning
their unreturned phone calls and one-night stands. But it
has also left many women feeling powerless, frustrated and
wondering, “okay, what next?”
Now, with his witty, provocative and empowering
response, sex therapist and popular author Ian Kerner not
only picks up where He’s Just Not That Into You
left off, but also offers an inspiring, feminist rebuttal,
BE HONEST- YOU’RE NOT THAT INTO HIM EITHER!
In the spirit of debate, Kerner writes in
the introduction, “This book will not reduce men’s
behaviors to a simple tagline that he’s not that into
you. Relationships are more complex than that. This book is
designed to make you think about your actions and behaviors.
That’s right, even though it might
be momentarily liberating to think, “Hey, it’s
not my fault it didn’t work out, he’s just not
that into me,” it’s just not that simple. Life
doesn’t let us off the hook so easily. And the idea
that you are powerless to affect what a guy feels about you
– that you might as well just be plucking the petals
off of daisies (“he’s into me, he’s into
me not”) is part of the process of lowering your standards,
abdicating responsibility for your actions, and accepting
defeat.
Now, in BE HONEST- YOU’RE NOT THAT
INTO HIM EITHER, Kerner encourages women to think about why
they settle for men that don’t make their hearts flutter,
and more importantly, motivates them to seek ones that do.
