Ian Kerner, popular author of Be Honest
—You’re Not That Into Him Either, may be
a married man, but he’s still interested in dating.
In DSI: Date Scene Investigation, he uses the TV
show CSI as the framework: “I must have been
watching a rerun of CSI when something just clicked,”
he says. Hoping to help the many single men and women who
email him stories of dating woes, Kerner provides case studies
of common dating crimes: refusal to commit, obsession with
pornography, etc. And what should you do if you fall for a
married man? Face up to the fact that he’s not going
to leave his wife, kick him to the curb and then evaluate
why you are attracted to unavailable men. What if you’re
in an otherwise satisfying relationship, but the sex is lousy?
It’s likely that you need to work on your communication
skills—maybe your needs aren’t being met because
they’re not being expressed—and also “continue
to strengthen [the] emotional connection in and out of bed.”
The disjointed style of the book—most pages include
bullet points or sidebars—is engaging and dizzying at
the same time, but readers are sure to be entertained and
edified. Daters who prefer the tube to reading might soon
be able to watch DSI on TV—the rights, says
Kerner, have been sold to Fox.
