In addition to writing and lecturing on
dating, sex and relationships Ian meets regularly with couples
and individuals to work on a wide range of issues related
to the achievement of sexual health & contentment. Ian is
certified to counsel patients by the American Association
of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is
also a certified Diplomate in Sex Therapy of the American
Board of Sexology.
Ian's journey to counseling professionally grew out of his own personal battle with sexual dysfunction and his desire to help others. Ian frequently works with couples and individuals to address issues that are common to the "American bedroom" yet nonetheless often lead to lives of quiet desperation.
Some of these issues include: low desire, mismatched libido, sex-ruts and sexual boredom; erectile disorder, rapid ejaculation, FSAD (Female Sexual Arousal Disorder) and anorgasmia (lack of orgasmic fulfillment); performance anxiety, sexual self-esteem and the rediscovery of intimacy and sexual meaningfulness; pornography compulsion, mismatched "sexpectations" and recovery from infidelity.
Ian is a strong advocate
of sexual fitness — an approach to sexual health
and contentment that emphasizes the importance of diet, exercise,
stress management, erotic creativity and partner-communication,
as well as the careful integration of sexual medicine, in
collaboration with a physician, when appropriate.
